AY 2023-2024 Teaching Excellence Award is Accepting Nominations!
You are invited to nominate outstanding faculty for the 2023-2024 Teaching Excellence Award. Submissions are open until Friday, February 2. The TEA Award is given annually to selected members of the faculty, highlighting NYU Shanghai faculty members' outstanding contributions to teaching and student learning. Updates about Global Network Minors
For students who plan to study away in Fall 2024 and afterwards, the Global Network minor is no longer an option. Students are encouraged to explore the cross-school minor options. Please communicate with your advisor if you have any questions regarding your study away plan.
Textbook Distribution Session is Open!
Distribution Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10 AM-4 PM | 5th Floor, West Hall

ARC Services and Resources
The ARC offers various academic support and resources for your academic success this spring. You can:
- Book an appointment on WCOnline with a Global Writing & Speaking Fellow for support in writing, speaking, reading, listening, time management, goal setting, class participation, communication, note-taking, etc., or with a course-specific Learning Assistant (LA) for course-specific tutoring (starting on January 29).
- Drop in at the Library Reference Desk from 2-3 PM, Monday-Friday, for a 20-minute consultation with an ARC Fellow.
- Participate in academic skills workshops to develop English language, study strategies, communication, and leadership skills.
Academic Skills Mentorship
Join the ARC academic skills mentorship program! Through workshops, coaching consultations, check-ins and other events, you will develop crucial time management and study strategies, while learning how to communicate and collaborate effectively with others! CEL Lens Film Screening: This is Life《烟火人间》| Director Q&A

The first documentary film created entirely from social media videos on Kuaishou (快手) shot by 509 ordinary Chinese people. Fresh, vivid, and direct, the film offers glimpses of migrant workers and rural residents portraying their lives in fields, on boats, in factories, at truck stops, and at construction sites and communities throughout China. The director, Sun Hong, will attend a post-screening Q&A and discussion on the interplay between social media creators and documentary filmmakers.
CEL Trip | Yunnan: Religions, Ethnicity, and History
Dates: March 29-April 2 (during Spring Break)
Location: Kunming and Dali, Yunnan Province
Yunnan is a singular region in China. Guided by two faculty with decades of experience in Yunnan–Global China Studies Professor and Dean of Arts and Sciences David Atwill and East Asian Studies Librarian Yurong Atwill–this CEL Immersive Learning Trip will visit both Kunming and Dali to explore one of China’s most culturally, ecologically, and politically unique regions “south of the clouds'' in southwest China. Millennium Fellowship Class of 2024
The next priority deadline for Millennium Fellowship Class of 2024 is Tuesday, January 30, 11:59 PM (New York Time). Only those who successfully finalize their Round 1 applications will advance to Round 2, which is the final stage of the application. Yenching Global Symposium
The annual flagship conference of the Yenching Academy of Peking University, the 2024 applications for Yenching Global Symposium (YGS) are now open. This year, YGS will take place on the historic campus of Peking University from April 11 to 14. YGS consists of engaging lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions about China’s impact on the world and the influence that the world has on China.
Applicants must be in their final year of study for their bachelor’s degree. Check out the application page and more information regarding eligibility criteria for " Equilibrium: Our World in Balance." The application deadline is Wednesday, January 31.
First-Year Fellowship Circle
The Office of Global Awards is launching the First-Year Fellowship Circle. Through the partnership with a faculty mentor, the first-year students will gain research and writing skills to develop a proposal for a project or initiative that is uniquely yours, connect with alumni and seniors to gain advice for applications and learn how to integrate coursework, self-directed research, and external opportunities. If interested, submit your application by Monday, February 5.
Charting Your PathLooking to pursue advanced research, service, or leadership goals? Charting Your Path is a one-day course designed to help highly motivated sophomores prepare for potential future fellowship applications and gain clarity in charting their next two years at NYU Shanghai. If you are a sophomore who would like to apply for this spring's program, fill out the application form by March 15!

Interested in accelerating your Chinese language learning? We are offering a 9-week Chinese Language Immersion Program that enables students to complete two semesters of material and earn 8 NYU Shanghai academic credits.
